Who doesn't love spring? Whose heart is not lifted by its astonishing beauty? Poets write about it. Singers sing about it. Lovers dream about it. Spring renews and refreshes everyone and everything. It is a most precious blessing.
Here's wishing you all the pleasures of spring - no matter where you are - with the help of these beautiful photographs from my friends and contacts at Flickr! May the beauty and joy of spring dwell in your blessed hearts all year long.
Love and best wishes,
Philip

THE BEAUTY OF SPRING!

STOP USING LIVE DOGS AS SHARK BAIT
Innocent stray dogs are being skewered alive and being dragged behind boats as shark bait in the French controlled Reunion Island. Can you believe it, my friends?
"Help us sign a letter to the French government to ask for an end to this inhumane practice in Reunion Island (French-controlled). We are asking the government to make sure that this practice never happens again!"
Please click this to sign the petition: Stop using live dogs as shark bait.
This is as sickening a story as I have come across and it shows just how insane humanity has become. I urge everyone to sign this petition and popularize it. I have signed it and engaged the help of all my StumbleUpon friends as well.

Now it is your turn. We have a duty on this planet. So make it your intent for today!

STOP VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN
"One in three women may suffer from abuse and violence in her lifetime. This is an appalling human rights violation, yet it remains one of the invisible and under-recognized pandemics of our time.”
--Nicole Kidman
"Every woman who thinks she is the only victim of violence has to know that there are many more."
-- Salma Hayek
"Remember no one can make you feel inferior without your consent."
--Eleanor Roosevelt
"If the numbers we see in domestic violence were applied to terrorism or gang violence, the entire country would be up in arms, and it would be the lead story on the news every night."
-- Rep. Mark Green
"No woman has to be a victim of physical abuse. Women have to feel like they are not alone."
-- Salma Hayek
"It's not enough for women to speak out on the issue - for the message to be strong and consistent, women's voices must be backed up by men's."
--Rep. John Conyers, Jr., Michigan
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."
--Margaret Mead

PHILIP ARNOLD HONOURS WOMANHOOD
March 8 is International Women's Day 2009 and, once again, my theme on this very important day is the stopping of violence against women.
People sometimes ask me why I love, respect and admire women so, and why am I so interested in stopping violence against them. Frankly, I am amazed and disgusted by the question. Women are wonderful, as wonderful as men, maybe even more wonderful, and violence against them is an abomination.
Please examine these two posts for facts regarding this almighty stain on humanity.
Were you aware of these facts?
Many people have asked me over the years: "Well, Philip, what can we do about it?"
The answer is very simple:
"HONOUR WOMANHOOD! - and honour it each and every day at every single opportunity!"
As a long time expert in spiritual metaphysics, I can assure you that women have exactly the same inner potential as men. It is only indoctrination and external pressures which prevent women from developing and expressing it.
If you are a woman, you can honour womanhood by recognizing the infinite potential dormant within you, by refusing to submit to indoctrination or external pressure which tells you otherwise, and by standing up for yourself, your rights, your well-being, and universal good - individually and in company with other intelligent people.
If you are a man, you can honour womanhood by refusing to belittle women in any way, and by supporting their fight with all your might.
If you can't remember why you should like women, or have even forgotten what women look like, here is a sweet little reminder:
All men and all women must stand together and Stop Violence Against Women. Here are some useful links:

TETRIS REDUCES TRAUMA
Here is a very interesting item from The Telegraph which gave me, a Tetris lover, considerable food for thought.
Philip
Playing the video game "Tetris" after a major shock could reduce the symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder, claim scientists.
British researchers found that playing the popular computer game shortly after the trauma helped wipe out the bad memories and reduce distressing flashbacks.
The psychologists from Oxford University believe the discovery could lead to new treatments for accident victims in hospitals as well as those involved in war zones.
"This is only a first step in showing that this might be a viable approach to preventing post traumatic stress disorder,' said Dr Emily Holmes of the Department of Psychiatry at Oxford University, who led the work.
"This was a pure science experiment about how the mind works from which we can try to understand the bigger picture.
"There is a lot to be done to translate this experimental science result into a potential treatment." (Read more.....)
RAMAKRISHNA'S WISDOM
Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa (February 18, 1836-August 16, 1886) was a Hindu religious teacher and an influential figure in the Bengal Renaissance of the Nineteenth century. His teachings emphasized God-realization as the highest goal of life, love and devotion for God, the oneness of existence, and the harmony of religions. Some of his transcendental wisdom is quoted below.
Philip
A man is truly free, even here in this embodied state, if he knows that God is the true agent and he by himself is powerless to do anything.
The magnetic needle always points to the north, and hence it is that sailing vessel does not lose her direction. So long as the heart of man is directed towards God, he cannot be lost in the ocean of worldliness.
God is in all men, but all men are not in God; that is why we suffer.
If you first fortify yourself with the true knowledge of the Universal Self, and then live in the midst of wealth and worldliness, surely they will in no way affect you.
God is everywhere but He is most manifest in man. So serve man as God. That is as good as worshipping God.
Only two kinds of people can attain Self knowledge: those whose minds are not encumbered at all with learning, that is to say, not overcrowded with thoughts borrowed from others, and those who after studying all the scriptures and sciences, have come to realize that they know nothing.
Bondage is of the mind; freedom too is of the mind. If you say 'I am a free soul. I am a son of God. Who can bind me?', free you shall be.
